DALGETY BAY TWINNING ASSOCIATION PUBLIC MEETING
There will be a public meeting on Wednesday March 29 2017 in Dalgety Church Hall at 7.45pm, at which there will be a presentation and consultation with the Dalgety Bay community and its organisations to secure links and support for the completion of twinning with the town of Ocsa, Hungary
The relationship between the town of Ocsa,Hungary and Dalgety Bay has developed since 2008 and a Bond of Friendship was signed in 2011. Representatives from the Community Council and Fife Council which included the Depute Provost, attended a Town Twinning Meeting in Ocsa over the weekend of 29/30 May 2015 which was also attended by mayoral delegations from their other twin towns of Palast, Slovakia and Kose, Estonia. This was the first stage of twinning with Ocsa by officially signing a Twinning Agreement with them on 30 May. Arrangements were made with Ocsa for a return visit to Dalgety Bay in September of that year to sign the Agreement in Dalgety Bay but unfortunately this had to be postponed due to the migrant crisis at that time.
With community support, it is now proposed to complete the Twinning by signing the Agreement over a weekend in September of this year when a programme of school visits and a Focus Group Meeting will be included. I feel it is now important to maintain links and friendship with another community in Europe despite what the effects of Brexit are likely to bring to the UK.
