75th ANNIVERSARY OF THE AIR CADETS
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Air Cadet Movement, and a ceremony was held at the Donibee sculpture at Dalgety Bay station on 19 July 2016.
The photos show a flaming torch which is travelling around to all the UK Air Cadet units for their 75th anniversary. The Air Cadets shown in the photo are from the 859 (Dalgety Bay) Sqn ATC unit located on the Hillend Industrial estate, which is itself the site of the old Donibristle Airfield.
The Sculpture was designed by Colin McPhail, the previous Community Council chairman, and was named the Donibee in recognition of the RN, RAF and civilian personnel who served at Donibristle Airfield between 1917 and 1959. It was unveiled by Commander Shaw MBE RN Rtd in April 2004.
